FUN TO BE HAD WHEREVER YOU ARE

Can I just say that Rascal Flatts is the best band ever!! Maddie and I were given FREE tickets... (ninth row even-so freakin awesome) and we just had the best time. Let me just say that Jessica Simpson (opened) is not fat... maybe she could stand to do a few sit ups, but really who among us wouldn't die to look like her on a bad day. She is really a super ditz... Forgot the lyrics to one of her songs (that she wrote). She even said it happens every show (why admit it sister?). I will include a video &/or picture as soon as figure out how to download stuff from my phone.

More funny luke-isms:

Luke: I need to go potty!
Todd: I'll help you sit, now hold your penis down (YES!! HE SITS... YE WHO ARE JUDGING HAVE NOT HAD BOYS YET)
Luke: I peed all over the bafroom fwoor (bathroom floor), dad.
Todd: (totally disgusted, as if he has never peed on himself) Luke, why didn't you hold your penis down like I told you to?
Luke: I couldn't because my penis was frustrated... (hmm...i don't know what that means coming from a 3 year old)

The other day I was on the computer (stupid freakin facebook) and Luke was supposed to be napping downstairs in his room. Tanner was downstairs playing HALO on the x-box and it must have disturbed Luke. He came up in my bedroom and asked me if he could wake up (so cute) and if he could play "hayo" with "tanno". I said he could.. (Stop the judging.. I was facebooking..) He went downstairs and a few minutes later was back. "Tanno won't yet me pway hayo mom" Again, I was not really giving him the eye contact he was so deserving and wanting because of the evil temptations of wall-to-wall ing people. I said, "Go down and tell tanner that I said he needs to let you play for a minute." Luke scampers down the stairs ready to do battle with this new piece of information. So sad, he comes back in just a few seconds. (dejected little voice) "Mom he still won't yet me pway." I didn't look up (I just had a friend request...) I just said.."honey, give me a minute and i will go talk to him." He sat quietly by me for about 15 seconds (a new record) and then said in a frustrated voice.."i don't evew (ever) get to pway hayo. I hate my yife (life)" Yes my 3 year old hates his life. Hmm... someone needs some counseling (ME)

Luke's stitches

so luke might be accident prone (sort of like his mother).. He loves to run around naked after he gets bathed..I think it is precious, except when the stinking dogs are in the house and then it is just sick and wrong because Masher loves to lick his bum and private part...umm, yes... Luke thinks it is funny and it tickles so he stops, drops and rolls while Masher proceeds to treat his "special places" as if they were covered in gravy..soo nasty.  So on Saturday, Luke had just gotten his bath (he was clean for approximately 4 seconds) and he escaped from his towel and started running from the sick pig dog.  As he ran by me I feebly called out to him to stop running and come get dressed ("Don't let that dog lick your butt!" is really what I said) he sort of tripped or slipped and fell right into the lamp table.  He hit so hard, I was scared to look at him.  I grabbed him up and started yelling for Todd.  Needless to say, we ended up at Primary Children's ER for stitches (3 in his lip and 5 on his chin).  His teeth cut up the inside of his mouth, poor little monster.  Todd had an anxiety attack watching someone else stitch him up.. we thought it would be best if Todd could just be Dad and not the MD, but we will never do that again, cause Todd about crawled out of his skin because he felt he could have (I'm sure would have) done better.  They let a new doctor try her hand at the stitches on his chin--she tried for 5-10 minutes before the other doctor moved her out of the way.. It was sort of stressful, but we survived.  We have also been dealing with sick kids all week.  Maddie and Tanner have had cold/flu and I was feeling lucky that I hadn't had to clean up any puke...Of course that is just tempting fate..Luke woke up about 30 minutes ago puking in his bed, with a fever.  OOhh how I love the flu..

Luke-isms

Here are a few of the latest in Luke's wonderful sassy communication--
We were driving home from seeing Baby Jake and he was irritating Sadie.  Maddie was trying to control him (super funny) and this is how it went...
Maddie.. "Luke if you don't stop being naughty, your going to get a spank!"
Luke.."No I'm not going to stop.  I won't get a spank"
Maddie.."Oh yes you will. "
Luke.. "I'm never going to stop and then I'll just give myself a spank on the bum"

Today in the bath was this uplifting and beautiful exchange..
Mom.. "Luke please don't splash water out of the bathtub you are getting water everywhere."
Luke.. "No I am not"
Mom.. "Luke, you need to stop talking back to me"
Luke.. "Then I'll just talk forward to you."

I know I am the envy of all....

Sadie loves her pudding!!  What a little monkey you are sister!  Sadie you are a barrel of laughs all day long...It starts at 6:00 a.m with you yelling "mommy, are you?"  then, as soon as you see me you start screaming "EAT CEWYAL!!" (eat cereal)  There is no please at 6:00 a.m.  There is no cuddling and watching cartoons.  It is all about the food.  Then you take 3-4 bites and want down.  IMMEDIATELY.  Then you start asking for e i e i o.  Which translated means any Baby Einstein movie or any movie with animals in it.  You must have your blankie and drink and several books.  You watch your movie for approximately 3.2 minutes then you are off again.  You love to ride Sophie and Masher (they think this is humiliating) and you love to put shoes and socks on (and off and on and off).  You love to bother your brother which is one of my least favorites of you habits.  The funniest is that Luke knows he can't hit or bite you so he tries to hug you to death... I am blessed to be your mother, for many reasons, not the least of which is that you never sit still, so neither can I.. no lazy bones allowed in the ashby home.  One of my favorites is when, in Sacrament meeting, you call out to Tanner as he is passing the sacrament "TANNO!  MY TANNO!"  Cute little hellion you are.

I love Sundays (most of the time)

I am so thankful for Sunday nights.  Especially after a hard fought battle for reverence at church, it is so nice to have a peaceful few hours by myself before the week is to start again.  My little ones have been giving me the typical toddler tantrums lately and I have to count to 10 about 1,000 times a day.  Today, Sadie girl actually rolled her eyes for the first time--she didn't do it to me, but to Maddie... It was HILARIOUS!!  Maddie told her she needed to quit being naughty and Sadie just looked at her with this sassy look on her face and ROLLED HER EYES!!  She is not even 2 yet!!  Both Maddie and I started laughing but I am sure we won't be laughing for long.  Poor Maddie got alot of attitude today.  I was taking a little rest after church and Maddie and Tanner were trying to control the kids.. Luke wasn't cooperating and Maddie told him he needed to be nice or he was going to go in time-out.  His reply??  "Whatever, Maddie."  Yes, that's right.  I am raising a bunch of heathens!!  But today, we actually got through Sacrament meeting with no trouble, or I should say almost no trouble.  We had the inevitable spilling of fishy crackers (fast sunday, no less) and a bit of sadness when mom's lap wasn't big enough for two, but overall we did very well today.  I feel as though I should win a prize, a big huge prize!!  I am so grateful my husband was able to be with us today at church--he gives so much of himself to others at his job, I am just so proud of him and how he is able to make a positive impact on people's lives that come through the ER.  It is rough on him sometimes (lots of times) but he loves it and I know that he is doing what the Lord put him on the earth to do.  We are a blessed family... it doesn't always feel that way, but I know that the challenges we do face are to bring us closer to each other and the Lord.  Please pray for me...I am not kidding...pray for my little heathens also, they may not make it to their next birthday (just kidding :)

"I believe our problems, almost every one, arise out of the homes of the people. If there is to be reformation, if there is to be a change, if there is to be a return to old and sacred values, it must begin in the home. It is here that truth is learned, that integrity is cultivated, that self-discipline is instilled, and that love is nurtured."
