Sadie's Rasmussen Birthday Celebration

As previously mentioned, the farm is Sadie's (and the rest of my kids) favorite holiday destination. They would rather spend a day at Grandma's than in Hawaii. NOT KIDDING. So when I decided to take them out to see their cousins and Grandma and Grandpa Farm, they were excited. Sadie and Sai have birthdays within a couple of weeks of each other and so we did a combined birthday party on Sunday. The kids had lots of fun on Saturday at the swimming pool in Vernal. They enjoyed another dance festival, accompanied by Mr. Tom T Hall. "Sneaky Snake" is the best!

Just a few pictures, videos to remind us of the fun we have at Grannie's!

Sadie eating her very red barn cake. I had to use 3 bottles of red food coloring to get the barn even close to the color I needed it to be. I am sure we have caused some horrible neurolgical problem because of all that red stuff in our bodies now.

This picture is for my sweet mom. Maddie was searching thru the kitchen for what she called "those little stringy things" and my hoarder mother figured out that it was a twistie tie she needed. So she opened this drawer and we all had a great time making fun of her for all of the weird things she had in there. And the vast amounts of "little stringy things"--she takes her years supply very seriously.
Holiness give me!!

These are the cute just- turning -3 Blake, Sadie and Sai.
Sadie looks like a hooker because the other little girls put her make-up on so they could play pageant. It was awesome.

I think Sadie might have asthma. She can not blow candles out. Come to think about it, she can't spit either. And that is an important skill to have, especially on the farm. She has issues.

Remember my CPS post? We, in the Rasmussen clan, pride ourselves on our parenting skills. Here you can see my wonderful brother, Brett, lovingly teach Blake how not to poop in his big boy pants. He has done this with each of his sweet children. He will be offering seminars with the next big snow.

Sadie and Blake at the swimming pool. Yes, she is overly protected.

The whole famdamily!

Barn cake. I know. It is so stinking cute. Grahams for the barn door and window. Pretzel for the weather vane with a little dried pineapple piece fashioned into arrows, tied together with some dental floss. Shredded wheat for the hay. Golden Grahams for the roof. Licorice strings for the stripes and the X's on the door.

Sophie loves visiting the farm. She loves to go out and chill with the cattle. She is very brave as the new moms were not so sure if they were comfortable with the alien-looking animal walking around the field by their new calves. She almost lost her life several times. I believe in this picture she is dining on cow dung..

This is Sai and Sadie as they came back from their birthday dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Farm. They went to China Star and had dinosaur chicken nuggets.

These are the little dumplin's waiting for Grandma's homemade waffles. That is a Saturday morning tradition. Dad is looking out at a cow that is giving birth in the field. The kids enjoyed their waffles as they watched a cow's hind end explode. How awesome is that!

What great fun we have together. The pictures are awesome and a couple in particular have inspired me to clean out my string-thing drawer today -- the rest of my house is in perfect order and doesn't need my attention today.

"I believe our problems, almost every one, arise out of the homes of the people. If there is to be reformation, if there is to be a change, if there is to be a return to old and sacred values, it must begin in the home. It is here that truth is learned, that integrity is cultivated, that self-discipline is instilled, and that love is nurtured."
