Hide your eyes, and other Randomness

Lethal dose of "freakin' cute" about to descend upon your eyes.

Sadie recently publisher her first book.
I want all of you green freak, tree-huggers to know that she did
it on recycled paper too.

It begins..

"Once upon a time, there lived a stegosaurus.."

"and a Long neck.."

"and a viscious pterydactyl.."

"and a mean T-Rex.."

 "and a Shark."

The End

By Sadie Ashby
Illustrated by Sadie Ashby

Love her.
She needs a literary agent.

She also needs a scholarship to college.
I mean, for real.
Who gets all 4's in Kindergarten?
SADIE GRACE ASHBY, that's who!
(I'm kidding, you dumbs who thought I was serious!)

And, because it is my blog and I will brag if I want to..
I give you Luke's report card.
I have genius kids.

Well, until they go to high school...
and let's be real... College is a different story
(Love you Mads!)

Sadie is all about being organized.
I am afraid to say that she has picked up on
her mother's obsessive list making.

Go to school
Eat Lunch
Night movie
Eat Dinner
Chores
Relax with Family
Bake Bread with Mom
Laundry
Vaccuum

(Saturday)

And then there was the day we went to
the South Towne Expo Center to
keep my kids entertained through this dumb season called winter.

It was fun..
for them.

Sadie getting herself all tatted up.
Luke and Sadie with a parrot.

Sadie getting her princess hair done.
Sadie holding a sneaky snake (not scared in the slightest..)

"Luke, I am your father!"
Sadie getting more tats.

They also rode a mechanical bull,
climbed a rock wall,
rode several small rides,
went down numerous slides,
played laser tag (see Sadie packing heat below..).

Good times...

Sadie and her best pal Sophie.
Below, you will see Sophie in bed with both children and
also Sadie making her magic potion,
which is a fun little game her and Luke like,
but I dislike,
because now I have no baking powder, sprinkles or oregano.
The things I sacrifice to survive winter.

I love my view of the temple outside my bedroom window.
Yes, I am an idiot.
I could not figure out how to take a good picture at night.

Sweet Sadie Grace..

We also had a movie night with some friends.
They enjoyed "Hotel Transylvania" with some popcorn and treats.
I have mixed feelings about this movie...
It was cute, but Lukifer has adopted a saying he got from this movie..
and it is very sassy...

For example...
Tanner told him to get in his car seat and he replied..
"Tanner! You don't have to tell me, blah, blah, blah!"
(you must say the blah blah blah like a vampire..)
It is so sassy and naughty but also very funny and it makes me laugh every time.
He is going to be a juvenile delinquent, I am quite sure.
But for now... ALL 4'S AND E'S BABY!!

I will enjoy it while I can, because I pretty sure he may end up in jail
or on Judge Judy as they defendant.

Sadie's Princess Tea Party

I believe we had a successful Princess Tea Party
And by Tea Party, I mean nothing political.
Nor was there any tea served. Hmm.. weird.

However, there was Princesses galore.
Also included in our lavish gala was...
Crowns, glitter, fingernail polish and aqua net..
cupcakes, finger sandwiches, cocoa & warm cider...
presents, smiles, balloons & banners...

I am telling you
Sadie Grace had a great time.
Which made my 20 hours of work
totally worth it!

The only improvement would have been
if my men folk would have been around.
I wanted them dressed up in their suits with a towel across
their arm, just like Jeeves or Carson (love him).
I wanted Todd to escort the Princesses to the
"drawing room" or the "library".
I wanted Tanner to serve the Princesses their
"crumpets" and "tea" just like a footman would on Downton.
I wanted Luke to fetch their coats and umbrellas
upon the Princesses taking their leave.

But, alas.
They were otherwise occupied.
With, of all things.. ward basketball.
I mean, for real.

We managed to survive without our hired help.
It feel upon me and my other trusty house maids-
(Maddie, Jada, Wendy, Brooke and Alicia)
to serve a respectable tea.

And, I believe we were successful.
Who needs those men folk anyway!!

Birthday and Valentine Heaven

Just a bit about me..

I like raspberries.
I love tarts.
I love Raspberry tarts that I made for Valentines Day.
I think I am cool.
That's all, for now.

Oh yah..
A bit more..
I love bacon.
Especially, when accompanied by heart pancakes and whipped cream.

And also...

Did you know that my favorite place to vacation is HAWAII?
Well, it is.
And I will be there in about 10 weeks.
Yah, I am awesome like that.

P.S.

I have the cutest kids on the block.
And the best purses on the street, too.

P.P.S.

I AM REALLY OLD.

And finally,

I received 2 birthday cakes for my surprise party.
Tanner was not to be bothered to put on a shirt for my surprise party.
It would have been a surprise if he would have actually covered his ninnies for once.

Everyone say "hi" to his cute little areolas!

Best. Day. Ever.

*Going to school with Sadie where she was featured as the Star student of the class (loved watching her get up in front of her friends and talk about herself and answer questions about herself!)

*Surprise visit from Mom and Sara (drove 5.5 hours to go to a 2 hour lunch with me for my birthday).

*Lunch at Brick Oven Pizza (really ridiculously good.)

*Hair appointment (it has been a long, long time. Those silver highlights had to go!)

*Celebrating Chinese New Year with my 1/2 Chinese kids (orange chicken, pon-pon chicken, wontons, steamed veggies--do not kid yourself--we are totally chinese! Ching Pow!)

*Husband home early from work!

*The sweetest, unexpected text from my teenaged son, who also unloads dishes from dishwasher with a smile and NO COMPLAINT.

*Hearing Luke laugh as he plays basketball with his dad (waited ALL day, and Todd did NOT disappoint!)

*Finding Luke's handwritten record of scoring 135 baskets (this kid is obsessed like no other).

*Reading scriptures (I will never get over hearing my little girls voice "And it tame to pass...")

*No more Tiara on the Bachelor!

*An unexpected visit from a friend with a loaf of homemade bread and honey (I have amazing people in my life!)

*Hot bath.

*Good book.

*Sweet conversation with my college daughter, who needed her momma & so she called her!

*Downtown Abbey.

AND IT'S NOT EVEN MY BIRTHDAY!

{sigh}

I love my life.

Sweethearts Ball Bingham 2013

And now we have the boy going to the dances.
The boy that has become a man.

His beautiful date was Hunter.
They went with Ethan and Ryan.
Cute little couples.
Just love 'em to pieces.

This was on their Friday night date.
They went to Classic Skating and did what you do there.
Skate, laser tag, other games.

Then the went on their Saturday day date.
Their day date was watching these girls at a cheer competition.
Yeah for Cheerleaders!
Already these young men are learning to wait on their ladies.
Don't ask questions. Just do as your told.
Tell me I am pretty and watch me dance and twirl.
Good life skill to learn, boys!

Hunter now presents Tanner with his "BOOT AN EAR"
and Tanner bestows on Hunter her "CORE SAUGE"
(shut up, I took 2nd place in my school spelling bee..)

Tanner appears ashamed that his dates guns are bigger than his own.

Of course, it wouldn't be a teen picture without the DUCK FACE pose.
WOW is all I have to say.

It also wouldn't be a photo shoot without Sophie laying on her back, exposing her private parts to a visitor. It is atrocious manners, but we love her anyway.

Bye Bye young son.
Return with honor and hum your favorite hymn and Remember who you are.
See you after your "after the dance" date.

"I believe our problems, almost every one, arise out of the homes of the people. If there is to be reformation, if there is to be a change, if there is to be a return to old and sacred values, it must begin in the home. It is here that truth is learned, that integrity is cultivated, that self-discipline is instilled, and that love is nurtured."
