Sledding

Todd had the glorious idea of taking the kids sledding this afternoon. He is seriously the funnest dad-my kids and I are so lucky. He has spent the last 2 days digging us and several others out of our snow storm and still wanted to take the kids to do something fun. I must admit, it was super fun! Luke and Sadie did not STOP smiling for the entire hour and a half that we were there. And it was super cold... but no one wanted to stop. Lots of laughing, lots of fun.

Of course, "fun" dad has to make everything extra "fun" (scary) by making up different ways to go down the hill. The best wreck of the day came when he tried a triple-decker (Todd on bottom, then Luke, then Sadie -like a little cherry- on top). Of course, resistance from me is futile. I thought it would end with a bloody nose or at least someone crying, but the kids were having a blast, even as they almost died as their father smeared them into the snow as they crashed. They also did headfirst, upside-down double-decker. Super exciting for me. Good thing we have health insurance.

We went for Starbucks non-fat, no whip, kids-temp peppermint hot chocolate after. Perfect ending to a great afternoon with the kids.

"I believe our problems, almost every one, arise out of the homes of the people. If there is to be reformation, if there is to be a change, if there is to be a return to old and sacred values, it must begin in the home. It is here that truth is learned, that integrity is cultivated, that self-discipline is instilled, and that love is nurtured."
